Clubs

At Ravensdale, we believe in providing students with a well-rounded education that extends beyond the classroom. Our wide range of extracurricular clubs offers children the chance to explore new interests, develop new skills, and make lasting friendships. From sports teams and maths clubs to art workshops and creative groups, there’s something for every child to enjoy. These clubs foster creativity, teamwork, and leadership, allowing students to pursue their passions in a fun and supportive environment. We encourage all our students to take advantage of these opportunities to enrich their school experience and grow both personally and socially.  Some of these opportunities are available for free, some are available to book through https://progressive-sports-derbyshire.co.uk/

Music Tuition

We offer a range of music tuition opportunities designed to inspire and nurture the musical talents of our students. Whether your child is a beginner or an advanced musician, our experienced and dedicated music teachers provide personalised lessons in a variety of instruments, including piano, guitar, violin, and more. We believe that music education not only enhances creativity but also promotes discipline, confidence, and teamwork. Through individual lessons, group sessions, and performance opportunities, our music tuition programs help students develop their skills, explore their passion for music, and gain a deeper appreciation for the art form.

Trips and Residentials

There are a range of trips and residentials that take place during the school year.  We rely on parental support to run these trips as school budgets are tight and we are unable to cover the cost.  Costs are calculated on the price per person at the venue and the shared cost of the travel.  School does not make money on any of the trips and does not charge parents for additional costs incurred like supply.

Some of the trips that are planned for this year are: Y6 Beaumanor, Y3 Botanical Gardens, Y4 Conkers (Romans), Y5 Conkers (Ancient Greece). There may be more added throughout the year, as well as visitors to come in to school to support with current topics.

We currently also offer a residential for each year group:

  • Year 3 have an overnight camp at school.
  • Year 4 go to Castleton for 1 night with a history focus.
  • Year 5 go to an outdoor activity centre (land-based focus) for 2 nights. This has previously been a centre in Shropshire
  • Year 6 go to an outdoor activity centre (water-based focus) for 3/4 nights. This has previously been a centre in Norfolk

Assemblies

At Ravensdale, assemblies play a vital role in fostering a sense of community, connection, and shared purpose. These daily gatherings provide students and staff with the opportunity to come together, celebrate achievements, discuss important topics, and engage with guest speakers. Whether it's showcasing student talent, addressing key themes like kindness and responsibility, or building school spirit, our assemblies are designed to inspire, motivate, and unite our school community. Join us in learning more about how these events contribute to creating a positive and dynamic school environment for all.

Pupil Leadership

At Ravensdale, we believe in nurturing the next generation of leaders by providing students with a variety of leadership roles and experiences. From classroom responsibilities to school-wide initiatives, we offer opportunities that empower children to develop critical skills such as communication, teamwork, and decision-making. Our leadership programs are designed to help students build confidence, take initiative, and make a positive impact within the school community.  Children have the opportunity to participate in roles like School Council, Eco Leaders, Well-being ambassadors as well as play / sports leaders at lunchtimes.

Wellbeing

The wellbeing of our students is at the heart of everything we do. We understand that a child's emotional, mental, and physical health is crucial to their success both in and out of the classroom. Our dedicated wellbeing programs focus on creating a supportive environment where students feel safe, valued, and encouraged to express themselves. Through mindfulness practices and a focus on building resilience, we equip students with the tools they need to navigate life’s challenges. We believe in nurturing each child's wellbeing, ensuring they thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
